DirectSound vs. WASAPI vs. ASIO
Jun 22, 3. I tried using WASAPI too, and though it sounded better than DirectSound, it sounded different than ASIO, which tells me one is better than the other, since one is lying about being direct to the hardware without any adulteration. Actually WarriorBob, this isn’t quite true.
ASIO is a technology designed for low-latency. Wouldn’t his best option not be to set the output to the sampling rate actually used in his audio file so no sampling rate conversion was necessary at all? I’m happily directsoundd your build of squeezeslave on the Pi – it’s running great, but I’d love to give Squeezeplay a try.
My midi controllers are hooked up via usb also if that makes any difference. Setting a sample rate higher than requires LMS 7. No dither and no resampling if the hardware is able to play the sample rate of the audio. Direct sound runs at higher latency and lower quality, but is more stable unless you have an ASIO Soundcard. I threw all my volumes up kinda high-school solution and still it was too low.
Windows: should you use DirectSound(default), WASAPI or ASIO
Is this Squeeze play or Squeeze slave? This experience is on windows and Debian computers, I haven’t tried on the Raspberry board yet mainly because I have been unable to run fin a SqueezPlay that can be used on this board.

The latency is extremely big usually between 50ms and 80ms so you can’t properly scratch or do any true real-time work.
Board index Technology Echo Vale. Thank you very much. But Windows is happy with it, saying nothing about probably crunched system files. Views Read View source View history. Please note I am not trying to prove a difference exists – just to find a way to do the test properly. If that proves true, the most probable reason is wrong setup on your system. As others have said, it’ll be more of a matter with a given soundcard’s drivers than anything else.

You should use this only if your audio device doesn’t support the other modes. Someone’s going to attack and disect every word I am about to post to tell me I’m wrong, but Having said that, now you have piqued my interest and I’ll be sure to check this for myself. I have noticed that you recently have build many different versions of SqueezePlay, so I was wondering if you are planning to make an ARM build as well?
